About Me

Welcome! My name is Amy and I'm so thrilled that you're here visiting my blog. Cooking is my hobby and I love sharing my favorite recipes with you all. My goal is to have The Savvy Kitchen be an outlet for all the new recipes I want to try and also a compilation of all my family's favorite dishes! I also have a new feature called "Tiny Tot Tuesdays" where I show all the recipes I make for my son, Bradley!
To keep up with all the different diet restrictions of my family and friends, I specialize in making recipes low-carb, low calorie and gluten-free. Most of the recipes you find on here will meet that criteria.
I have a faithful taste test system that includes my Italian parents (and their amazing palates), three brothers (and their significant others), and a husband whose appetite is a wish come true for a girl who loves to cook! I am by no means a professional, but cooking is something I'm passionate about and with their (sometimes painful) reviews, I will only post the best recipes that I'd be proud to have you try. My mom is the best cook I know and I hope to be as good as her one day, so hopefully this blog will allow me to share that journey with you. She was my first teacher, and between her and the Food Network, I'm quickly teaching myself how to be a great cook.

To me, the kitchen is easily the most important room in a house. Growing up with a large Italian family, everyone would always congregate in the kitchen and that still remains true in the house that my husband and I own today. Although my "savvy kitchen" may not be the biggest and greatest, I have made it so that it is very functional, amazingly organized, and always filled with cheer, laughter and great food.

I am currently living in Northern Virginia just outside the DC area. On September 19, 2013, my husband, Chris, and I welcomed our precious baby boy, Bradley Christopher, into our lives. These days I spend most of my time with him, but I also enjoy running, reading, spending time with family and friends, going to the beach, and hanging out with amazing husband.
Thanks for supporting me and I hope to share recipes with you that will make your plates a little tastier and your love of cooking a little stronger! I hope you will continue checking back to see what has been going on in The Savvy Kitchen!

Amy
